Bear with Me

Whether it’s displaying some whacky art for the world to see, or calling ‘runners’, ‘sand shoes’, we like to do things differently in lutruwita/Tasmania. This route is no different.

Known as ‘Commando’, this route takes you through the foothills of kunanyi, taking in some of the best parts of Tasmanian scenery. We have added a little detour onto a beautiful section of gravel which overlooks Bruny Island, however the beauty of a ‘commando’ is that you can lengthen and shorten the ride in many different ways.

How Long is this ride?

This ride is 70km in distance, however like many of these rides, is quite hilly. There are a number of punchy climbs around Tinderbox, you rack up a fair bit of climbing even before you start the ascent up to Neika (the base of kunanyi).

Difficulty

All rides are designed to showcase some of our favourite parts of our doorstep, which generally involves a number of hills. As such we recommend you have some form of bike experience to give these rides a go… and come with your best climbing legs (or at least a good attitude).

This ride is on the more advanced or harder side, mostly due to the total elevation and max gradients hit during the ride.

Suggested Finish Locations:

Coffee: Bear With Me for great post ride coffee breakfast or lunch!

Alcohol, beers and burgers: We recommend making a post ride recovery stop at Preachers if you’re that way inclined.
