The Locals Edition
At Eudaimonia Tasmanian Cycling Tours, we’re pretty big believers in community. As such we have created a platform for the locals (and temporary locals) to get to know each other and continue to explore Hobart by bike.
It can often be hard to know where to start, where to ride or what groups exist when you first take up cycling. As such, we endeavour to create a safe and informative space for all group rides in Southern Tasmania (primarily Hobart). We run regular rides ourselves, however we have also collated a list of groups and their regular rides so you know where to go no matter where you are in your cycling journey.
Join our Facebook Group for further communication or questions regarding any rides.
What does ‘pace’ mean?
Pace gives you an indication of the speed in which the group will ride. It’s important to note that Tasmania is quite hilly, as such the average pace of your general interstate rider is likely to be 2-5km/h faster than what you will ride in Hobart. As a general rule we would define each group speed suitable for the following riders:
20-23km/h: Any rider, whether just starting out or a seasoned veteran. You may have never ridden with a group before, or only used to riding on a flat road. These riders often find hills a bit more difficult (don’t we all!) and rarely ride further than 30km.
22-25km/h: A bit of a step up from the previous category, we often find the biggest difference in these riders is that they have the ability to punch over a few hills and are generally used to a bit more climbing. Riding 100km is just as exciting each time!
25-28km/h: These riders have often been riding for a long time. They can maintain a good pace on the flats as well as up all kinds of hills no matter the gradient and are often well accustomed to variable distances (ie. a ride over 100km or with 2,000m of climbing isn’t too daunting… but still something worth patting yourself on the back for).
28km+: We usually choose to wave at these riders as they ride past and admire their tight fitting lycra, shaved legs and baby cows… they’re pretty fast and we’re ok with it.
*These are not exclusive definitions, we have simply written them as an indication for the groups listed below. We always find group ethos to be the determining factor toward how much fun we’re going to have on a ride, so never be scared to message the ride leader or ask a question on our Facebook page!

Eudaimonia TCT: Mikro Podilato

Don’t be surprised to see a few kms of gravel occasionally on the Saturday ride. Most rides have designated regroup points….. The best way to make contact is via the Tassie Torque Strava club page.
We always finish with coffee and rest assured the Tassie Torque chiefs, knows where Hobart’s best coffee can be found!
