FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What do I need to bring?
Yourself and your bike (and a mate)! Wear what you feel comfortable in. Bring what you got. Most importantly we’re here for a good time with good vibes. Most people will be wearing lycra, however we encourage you to wear whatever you feel most comfortable wearing. Each of the rides have slightly different vibes so please read below which ride is right for you!
We recommend rear lights on most rides. Lights are compulsory from April - October.
Can anyone join?
The Eudaimonia Community is for everyone! Our goal is to foster riding bikes in lutruwita/Tasmania and for people to have a good time doing so! Whether it’s your first time in lycra or you’ve ridden in the Tour de France, we aim to create a space to welcome everyone of all abilities.
I am nervous!
We get it! Coming along to your first group ride is scary. That is why we have designated ride leaders to help create a welcoming vibe for each of our rides. If you’re coming along to your first group ride please feel free to reach out beforehand to let us know and we can make sure you feel comfortable rocking up on the day. Either way, we will ensure you feel comfortable when you join us on a ride!
Which group do I join?
Wednesday and Thursday morning sunrise bunchies: Our two weekly sunrise bunchies are for varying abilities. We will have two speeds running for the Thursday morning ride (we hope to one day have a second speed for the Wednesday ride depending on interest)
A Group (no drop ride): The A group will leave at a slightly later time at 6:10am. This is designed kind of like a self seeded handicap. The A group will average 25 - 28km/h and will run with rolling turns. Not quite a full out chop, but a solid pace with regroups at the top of Bonnet.
B Group (no drop ride): The B group is here for a good time with good vibes leaving at 6am on a Thursday. The B group is for those who just want a chill ride and to chat along the way. The B group will average 22-25km/h.
Women’s Rides: We have created women specific rides to help foster women in cycling. Women of all abilities are welcome! Sometimes we go slow, sometimes slightly quicker. But we always stay with the group on the day!
Queers & Gears: We are so excited to be creating a space for the queer community! This ride is less about lycra and more about fostering community.
I hear you have female rides!
We sure do! As a female led business we recognised the gap for women to get into riding. After successfully running our monthly Girl Gang rides for a number of years and the number of women riding bikes continues to grow, we decided we needed a space for more regular catch ups!
Our monthly Girl Gang rides are for those that are a bit more hesitant in joining a group for the first time, but keen to meet more women and people just like yourself! We run Girl Gang on the last Saturday of each month. Together with Giant Hobart we are super excited to be adding workshops and skills sessions into our monthly catch ups from 2025!
Our weekly Friday 6:30am Women’s rides are for all women to join us on a more regular basis. Our Girl Gang group have been asking for more regular catch ups, so we’ve delivered. As a way of helping to build on community, we hope to foster more women to both take up riding, but to also continue to find space and
I’m queer and don’t feel comfortable in most lycra focused spaces!
We hear you! Bikes and lycra can be a scary place. Particularly for minorities! That is why we created Queers & Gears! Queers & Gears is designed to help create a safe and welcoming space for the queer community. We know so many people that ride bikes but don’t want to don the lycra (or maybe you do. You do you!). Either way, this ride is designed more as a meet up for the queer community where we will ride our bikes, but more importantly chat along the way, drink coffee and just explore our surroundings. If you are queer and own a bike, we hope you will join us!
Queers & Gears will run on the second Sunday of each month! In the theme of exploration, we will be changing the route each month so keep an eye out on our community page, strava and socials.
