Bruny Island Cheese co.

One of our favourite routes. When a ride also involves a ferry ride there’s no doubt it’s going to be a good one.

Even if you do this ride simply for the views you get on the 20min ferry trip, we guarantee it will be an unforgettable experience. We will ride to the neck to look at the view from the top of the stairs, then head back to Bruny Island Cheese co. for some farm fresh produce. If you want a Tassie experience in one day, this route is it.

Route Overview

A true Tassie adventure ride — Bruny Island delivers sweeping coastal views, gravel rollers, and the peaceful pace of island life. Start with a scenic ferry ride before pedalling your way through quiet farmland, eucalyptus forests, and along the island’s rugged coastline.

Ride Notes

  • Catch the early ferry from Kettering for a quieter road ride.

  • Expect mixed terrain: mostly sealed with some well-maintained gravel sections.

  • Refuel at Bruny Island Cheese Co or our favourite, Izzy Bar - they have the most AMAZING pizza!

  • Watch for wildlife — wallabies are regular road companions.

  • You can extend this ride as far as you like. We love making a full mission all the way down to the lighthouse. There is gravel past Lunawana which can be rough during the summer, but great basically every other time of year!

  • We don’t love riding down to Adventure Bay as we find the traffic to Pennicott Tours can be a bit busy.

Local Insight

This is a ride that fills your soul. Bruny is raw, peaceful, and breathtaking — it feels a world away from the mainland. Perfect for riders wanting a sense of isolation without being too far from great food and hospitality.
