A Grasstree loop is one of the easier mid length rides in and around Hobart and is one of our favourite easy rides to complete. You can visit the infamous Richmond bridge, a convict laid bridge built in 1823 and is Australia’s oldest bridge still in use. We certainly recommend spending some time in Richmond exploring the beautiful tourist town!
Route Overview
A northern circuit that features one of greater Hobart’s most iconic climbs. Grasstree Hill offers sweeping views over the Derwent Valley and a long, steady gradient that’s ideal for getting into a rhythm.
Ride Notes
Best ridden clockwise to enjoy the smoother climb and fast descent.
Traffic is usually light, but ride early for the quietest conditions. Can get a bit busy during tourist hours.
Good food/coffee options available in Richmond. We love zCegs!
This loop links well with the Risdon Brook area if you're chasing more distance.
Local Insight
Grasstree’s consistent gradient makes it a local training favourite.
