A Leslie Vale loop is a great combo between some ‘Tassie flat’ coastal roads, a little bit of dirt and the start of exploring the foothills of kunanyi/Mount Wellington. We love this ride because of its relatively easy start, but also for the contrasting elements of being in the city, to quickly working your way to the beach, then country farmland and finally working your way up to the eucalyptus forest of kunanyi.
Route Overview
The Leslie Vale Loop is a gentle challenge wrapped in countryside calm. With rolling farmland, long valley views, and a few pinch climbs to test the legs, it’s a local favourite for mid-week training or a scenic Sunday spin.
Ride Notes
Most enjoyable in the clockwise direction — makes the gradients feel a little friendlier - but can be ridden in either direction.
Expect light traffic with courteous drivers.
Spring and autumn bring the best conditions, but it's a great loop year-round.
Add on extra distance by linking up with Longley or heading down to Sandfly. - also known as Commando
Local Insight
This ride feels like a back-road escape just minutes from Hobart. You’ll get a little bit of everything — climbing, fast flats, and flowing descents — all without ever feeling too far from home.
